Nvidia claims the RTX 3080 Ti, which is based on its Ampere graphics processing unit architecture, can run 4K games up to 1.5X faster than the last-gen RTX 2080 Ti. Hardware design and port selection (Nvidia's new 12-pin connector) are in line with the RTX 3080, but the RTX 2080 Ti gets a jump in power and virtual memory .

Elsewhere, we're looking at 10,240 CUDA cores running at a base frequency of 1.37GHz with boost speed of up to 1.67GHz. If you see the spec sheet of both RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3090, you won't find much difference, except memory. Generally, "Ti" is used for a card that is an upgrade over the base variant and sits between two cards.

But, RTX 3080 Ti is very close to RTX 3090 in terms of performance, specs, and price rather than RTX 3080. The new "Ampere" architecture-based GPU launched last year with lots of new and improved features. Features like second-generation Ray Tracing, third-generation tensor cores, improved DLSS, etc. Nvidia also packed lots of Cuda cores in 3000 series cards thus require more power to run.

Outside of all that raw horsepower, there are a couple of other specs to keep in mind for the RTX 3080 Ti. It requires the same 350W of power as the 3090, meaning gamers will need to ensure they have enough power to spare in their gaming rig before getting the new GPU. It also comes equipped with Nvidia's new Lite Hash Rate technology, which blocks the card from achieving its full performance when mining cryptocurrency. It's an attempt from Nvidia to ensure the RTX 3080 Ti and other GPUs get in the hands of gamers rather than crypto miners, so fingers crossed that has a positive impact on its availability. Back in September 2020, the company introduced its lineup of RTX 30 graphics cards for the very first time.

All of them were incredibly well-received, and as of June 2021, the lineup has continued to grow with more options to fit as many budgets as possible. While the cards themself have been fantastic, actually trying to buy one has been a different story. Thanks to a combination of the chip shortage, scalpers, and crypto miners, buying an RTX 30 GPU has become virtually impossible for the average shopper. The cards are constantly out of stock, and when one is available, it's often selling for hundreds more than its MSRP.

In the middle of the current GPU shortage, news of Nvidia's RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3080 Ti should be something many gamers get excited about. Many gamers, however, may be curious about availability considering the current shortages. With release dates and pricing information, gamers can only hope that the release of these new Ti series cards will allow them to get their hands on a new RTX 3000 series GPU this year. Ampere's improvements with artificial intelligence and DLSS improve ray tracing performance, especially when games are rendered at higher resolutions. The RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti update the higher-end cards in the range. The RTX 3080 Ti mirrors the RTX 3090 in most specs, utilizing nearly as many CUDA, Tensor, and RT cores.
